Subject: Funding the Woodridge Park Inclusive Playground
The Parks and Recreation Department and the Inclusive Playground Task Force are currently
in the funding phase of the Inclusive Playground Project.
The Cottage Grove Recreation Department received permission in November of 2014 to apply
for grants and donations which have zero monetary requirements of the city to be put toward
the Woodridge Park Inclusive Playground. Any grants and donations that have requirements
such as "matching grants" must be brought to council on an "as needed basis".
The MN Department of Natural Resources: Outdoor Recreation Grant Program is accepting
grants for acquiring parkland and developing or redeveloping outdoor recreation facilities. The
space we would be redeveloping is the play structure at Woodridge Park, play structures are
an eligible recreation facility. The maximum grant award is $100,000. Grants are reimbursed
up to 50 percent of the total eligible costs.
The Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) accepts Standard Grants on a quarterly basis.
Grants can provide or establish Lions-initiated services projects. The LCIF funding concerns
includes aid for people who are blind and disabled. The Park Port Lions, Park Port Lionesses,
New Park Lions, and Cottage Grove Lions Support the project. The maximum grant award is
$100,000. Grants are reimbursed up to 75% of the total project budget.
The Cottage Grove Recreation Department is requesting permission to apply for the MN
Department of Natural Resources: Outdoor Recreation Grant Program and the Lions Club
International Foundation in the amount of$100,000 to be put toward the Woodridge Park
Inclusive Playground.
