RE: Historic Preservationist of the Year
Introduction
It is common for various cities and organizations including Cottage Grove to proclaim May
as Historic Preservation Month.
In support and celebration of this year's Historic Preservation designation, the Advisory
Committee on Historic Preservation recommended that the Mayor and Council award the
2016 Historic Preservationist of the Year for the City of Cottage Grove to Wayne and Angi
Butt in recognition of their dedicated efforts to refurbish and repurpose the 1947 arched
roof barn at 7310 Lamar Avenue as the John P. Furber Wedding and Event Center
allowing for its continued existence as a unique component of the historic fabric of the
com m unity.
Recommendation
That the Mayor and City Council proclaim Wayne and Angi Butt as the 2016 Historic
Preservationist of the Year for the City of Cottage Grove.
PROCLAMATION
The City of Cottage Grove has a shining
future and a vibrant past. It is the goal of
the City Council to provide excellence in the
delivery of public services to community
residents, businesses, and owners of
property.
One noted public service is to share the
history of the people and places that have
made Cottage Grove the unique place it is
to live, work, and play.
In celebration of Historic Preservation
Month 2016, the City Council is pleased to
award the Historic Preservationist of the
Year Award to Wayne and Angi Butt in
recognition of their dedicated efforts to
