Subject: ULI: Navigating Your Competitive Future Workshop
Introduction & Discussion
th
On Tuesday, August 16 the City of Cottage Grove will be hosting the Urban Land Institutes
Workshop (formly Navigating the New Normal) from 6:30
PM to 8:30 PM in the Training Room at City Hall. The workshop is meant to give policy leaders
guidance in a way that is not possible in the course of normal day to day business, through open,
candid, public private conversations. The workshop emphasizes the critical importance of
communication and partnerships between cities and the development community. The
workshop will identify strategies to position Cottage Grove to be competitive and sustainable by
attracting the best possible (re)development.
We encourage all elected officials to try and make the workshop as it will give an insightful look
at the challenges faced not only by Cottage Grove but also potential developers looking to invest
in our community.
The workshop will last two hours and is structured as an interactive discussion between city
leaders and a panel of professionals in finance, industrial development, commercial
development and residential development.
The Urban Land Institute (ULI) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit research and education organization that
facilitates an open exchange of ideas, information and experience among industry leaders and
policy makers dedicated to creating better places. Local chapters of the ULI work to find the
best in land use policy and practice. The Minnesota Chapter of the ULI puts together the
