Belscamper – 7/12/2016 Draft Resolution and Map To: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members From: Neil Belscamper, Deputy City Clerk Date: July 12, 2016 Subject: Residential Solid Waste and Recycling Daily Collection Districts Background At the July 6, 2016 Regular City Council Meeting, the City Council passed Ordinance 964 amending the City Code relating to Solid Waste and Recycling. Both the previous and the amended City Code chapters specify that residential daily collection districts be established by Council resolution. The Public Works Department located the daily collection district map dated May 2002 but as we have been unable to determine whether this was actually adopted by Council resolution we are asking Council to do so now. Staff Recommendation Adopt the resolution establishing residential daily collection districts for mixed municipal solid waste and recyclable materials, superseding any previous actions to establish such districts. RESOLUTION NO. 2016-XX ESTABLISHING RESIDENTIAL DAILY COLLECTION DISTRICTS FOR MIXED MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE AND RECYCLABLE MATERIALS WHEREAS, the City of Cottage Grove regulates the collection of Mixed Municipal Solid Waste and Recyclable Materials; and WHEREAS, the City of Cottage Grove has determined that it is in the public interest to preserve neighborhood aesthetics and promote efficient collection of such materials in residential neighborhoods; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Cottage Grove, County of Washington, State of Minnesota, hereby establishes specific day-of-the-week geographic districts for the collection of residential mixed municipal solid waste and recyclable materials as outlined in the attachment “Residential Mixed Municipal Solid Waste and Recyclable Materials Daily Collection Districts” with an effective date of July 21, 2016 superseding any previous actions to establish such districts.
