Xcel Energy Certified Site Program - Letter of Support
Background
The City of Cottage Grove is working with Xcel Energy to certify 50 acres of land in the business park
south of Leafline Labs and the future Garden World site as development ready. The Xcel Energy Certified
Site Program is designed to feature 10 -15 sites that are greater than 50 acres that are development
ready. The overall goal is to focus on end users that are high energy users, such as data centers. As
part of the application for the program Xcel is asking for a letter of support. Attached below you will find
a letter from Mayor Bailey on behalf of the Economic Development Authority in support of Cottage Grove
participating in the Xcel Energy Certified Site Program.
There is no cost for participation in the program. Moving forward staff will continue to work with Xcel
Energy on gaining the certification and maximizing its marketing potential.
Recommendation
Consideration of a motion to recommend approving the Letter of Support for the Xcel Energy Certified
Site Program.

To Whom It May Concern:
It is my pleasure to be writing in support of the Xcel Energy Certified Sites program. Cottage Grove is
positioning for growth and we believe this partnership with Xcel Energy will assist in that goal.
The City of Cottage and its staff have a history of strong ties to our business park with successful
relationships with 3M, Renewal by Andersen, AGCO, Up North Plastics, Leafline Labs, and Garden World.
We work diligently to assist businesses through the process of development. We plan to continue our
efforts to promote growth in our business park and X
demonstrating that to local businesses, site selectors and corporate executives.
The City of Cottage Grove Economic Development Administration and myself fully supports Cottage
the Xcel Energy Certified Site program designed to market 50 acre plus
development ready sites to the greater business community. Any program that helps the City of Cottage
Grove position itself for a brighter future and build a stronger relationship with Xcel Energy I believe is a
win for both of us.
Sincerely,
Myron Bailey
Mayor
City of Cottage Grove
