TO: Economic Development Authority FROM: Matt Wolf, Economic Development Assistant DATE: October 11, 2016 RE: BR&E Update Background/Discussion The BR&E Leadership Team had their first meeting in September. In choosing the Leadership Team, staff chose individuals who have a history of economic development, had a flexible schedule and allowed us to build a regional team to maximize the results of the program. The Leadership Team is responsible for the overall direction and marketing of the program and is comprised of the following individuals: Chris Eng, Washington County CDA Economic Development Director Morgan Hill, GreaterMSP Project Manager Nicole Toni, Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Marketing Coordinator Kylle Jordan, Department of Employment and Economic Development Economic Development Program Specialist Charlene Stevens, City of Cottage Grove City Administrator Christine Costello, City of Cottage Grove Economic Development Director Matt Wolf, City of Cottage Grove Economic Development Assistant th On September 14 the Leadership Team met to discuss the project timeline, potential Task Force members and a list of potential businesses to ask to participate. The Leadership Team is th scheduled to meet again on October 12. During the meeting we will discuss Task Force member participation, scheduling of a training session for the Task Force and discussion of the interview survey tool to be used during business visits. In November or December the first Task Force meeting will be held in conjunction with the University of Minnesota to train members of the Leadership Team and Task Force in data collection, surveying methods and practice business visits. Staff has also begun to invite members to join the Task Force. We currently have 16 members of our Task Force set and ideally will have a Task Force between 20 to 25 individuals. If any members of the EDA are interested in participating please let Matt or Christine know as soon as possible. Staff also recently completed a training through Business Retention & Expansion International to gain certification as BRE Coordinators.
