To: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
From: Neil Belscamper, Deputy City Clerk
Date: December 6, 2016
Subject: Liquor License Public Hearing — Cedarhurst, Inc.
We received an application from Cedarhurst, Inc for on-sale intoxicating and special Sunday
liquor licenses. They will be taking over food and liquor operations from A This Little Piggy
Catering, Inc. at Cedarhurst, 6940 Keats Avenue South, effective January 1, 2017. Cedarhurst,
Inc. held the liquor licenses at this location for several years before A This Little Piggy
Catering, Inc. took over food and liquor operations in 2015.
The Public Safety Department conducted a background investigation of the applicant and no
facts were found that would constitute a basis for denial of the application. Since the applicant
held a liquor license at this location for several years prior to relinquishing it for a single
renewal cycle, and the Public Safety Department did not require a background investigation as
extensive as for an applicant with no local business history, we are also requesting that the
City Council waive the $500.00 investigation fee for this applicant, taking into account that we
do not require an investigation fee for liquor license renewals.
A Notice of Hearing was published in the South Washington County Bulletin on December 7,
2016 in accordance with our City Code.
Staff Recommendation: Authorize issuance of on-sale intoxicating and special Sunday liquor
licenses to Cedarhurst, Inc. at 6940 Keats Avenue South, and authorize waiver of the liquor
license investigation fee.
