CALL TO ORDER The City Council of the City of Cottage Grove, Washington County, Minnesota, held an emergency meeting on May 23, 2017 at Cottage Grove City Hall, 12800 Ravine Parkway. Council Member Thiede called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL The following were present: Council Member Wayne Johnson, Council Member LaRae Mills, Council Member Dave Thiede. The following were absent: Mayor Myron Bailey, Council Member Steve Dennis. Also present were: Korine Land, City Attorney-LeVander, Gillen & Miller; Joe Fischbach, HR Manager/City Clerk; Jennifer Levitt, Community Development Director/City Engineer; Robin Roland, Finance Director; Sharon Madsen, Communications Coordinator; Craig Woolery, Public Safety Director; Pete Koerner, Police Captain; Greg Rinzel, Police Captain; Rick Redenius, Fire Chief; PJ McMahon, Deputy Fire Chief; Les Burshten, Public Works Director; Harry Taylor, Public Works Supervisor; Rick Alt, Working Foreman - Utilities; Becky Ahlvin, Management Assistant; Daniel Rosinksy- Larsson, Administration Intern; Tony Jurgens, State Representative; Keith Franke, State Representative. 3. AGENDA ITEM A. Appoint Dave Thiede as Acting Mayor. Motion by Mills, seconded by Johnson, to appoint Dave Theide as Acting Mayor for the meeting. Motion carried 3-0. Jennifer Levitt, Community Development Director/City Engineer stated that municipal water in the City of Cottage Grove is safe but as the result of the lowering of health- based advisory values for the chemicals PFOA and PFOS by the Minnesota Department of Health, the City would temporarily take some wells with higher values off- line and therefore the municipal water system would be operating at a lowered capacity. B. Adopt Resolution 2017-075 Declaring a Local Emergency. Motion by Mills, seconded by Johnson, to adopt Resolution 2017-075 declaring a local emergency. Motion carried 3-0. C. Adopt Resolution 2017-076 Declaring an Exterior Watering Ban. Motion by Johnson, seconded by Mills, to adopt Resolution 2017-076 declaring an exterior watering ban. Motion carried 3-0. 4. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Johnson, seconded by Mills, to adjourn the emergency meeting. Motion carried 3-0. The meeting adjourned at 12:06 P.M.
