HomeMy WebLinkAbout07H Publication of Ordinance 988 by Title and Summary CITY OF COTTAGE GROVE, MINNESOTA CITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION 2017-163 AUTHORIZE PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE 988 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the Cottage Grove City Council passed Ordinance 988 at their December 6, 2017 Regular Meeting by a 3-2 Vote; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes Section 412.191 requires a 4-5 vote to authorize publication of an ordinance by title and summary; and WHEREAS, Ordinance 988 contained a provision for publication of the ordinance by title and summary that provides a clearer and more concise notification to the general public than if the ordinance is published in its entirety; and WHEREAS, the title and summary indicates that the entire text of Ordinance 988 is available at Cottage Grove City Hall during regular business hours and is available on the City's website; and WHEREAS, a copy of the entire ordinance has been provided to the Park Grove Library; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Cottage Grove, County of Washington, State of Minnesota, hereby authorizes publication of Ordinance 988 by the following title and summary: ORDINANCE 988 The Cottage Grove City Council passed Ordinance 988, which amends City Code Title 7, Chapter 4 relating to plantings and landscaping on boulevards. The title of the chapter changed from Street Trees to Plantings and Landscaping on Boulevards. The City also added language to protect boulevard trees. It is unlawful for any person to cut down or damage a boulevard tree without a written permit from the Public Works Director and a civil penalty is now in place for such violations. The required size and location of a boulevard tree is described throughout the ordinance.
