RE: Historic Preservationist of the Year
Introduction
The ACHP annually nominates a person or organization who goes above and beyond to
promote an aspect of Cottage Grove's history that helps to share our understanding and
general knowledge of the people and places of our past.
Discussion
At the last regular meeting of the ACNP, a discussion was held on potential candidates
for the 2018 Historic Preservationist of the Year Award. The ACHP identified the Dodge
Nature Center as a top candidate.
After their discussion in January, the ACHP motioned and approved a recommendation
to the City Council that the Dodge Nature Center be awarded the 2018 Historic Preser-
vationist of the Year based on their work in 2017 to have Shepard Farm placed on the
Local Register of Historic Sites and Landmarks.
The ACHP is requested to review the draft language for the award plaque. The list of
previous recipients of this distinction is attached for additional reference.
