Discussion Staff Action
School District 833 School Economic Development Director Costello presented to the
Board Meeting, October 17, School Board an overview of development taking place
2018 currently and in the future in Cottage Grove.
MNCAR Expo, October 23, Mayor Bailey, Councilmember Dennis, Economic
2018 Development Specialist Wolf, and Economic Development
Director Costello attended the MNCAR Expo for the third
consecutive year.
Cottage Grove Realtor The EDA’s biennial realtor forum took place at River Oaks
Forum, October 25, 2018 and 61 area realtors participated. Topics included economic
development, housing, transportation, parks, schools, public
safety. The forum concluded with single-family home
builders’ panel that included Lennar, Gonyea, and the MN
Home Builders Association.
Ribbon Cutting, October 28, A ribbon cutting took place for TJ Maxx and HomeGoods at
2018 Gateway North.
MN Real Estate Journal Economic Development Specialist Wolf and Economic
Summit, November 2, 2018 Development Director Costello attended a half day seminar
on data centers. The seminar included information on
proposed trends, improving data center efficiency, paying for
data centers, differences between new construction, retrofit,
and colocation as well as why a community might attract a
data center.
3M Open House, November Economic Development Specialist Wolf and Economic
2, 2018 Development Director Costello attended an open house at
3M Cottage Grove to learn about workforce needs at the
facility.

Ribbon Cutting, November 6, A ribbon cutting took place at North Star Sheets, 7550 91
2018 Street in the Cottage Grove Business Park.
Retaining Your Retail Economic Development Specialist Wolf listened to a webinar
Webinar, November 7, 2018 hosted by the University of Minnesota Extension for
Community Vitality. Webinar focused on expansion and
retention of retail in your community through local input.
