RE: River Access — Lime Kiln Project
Introduction
It is with regret and sadness that I must share that Marge Schmaltz, who owned the property at
10398 Grey Cloud Trail which contains the Historic Lime Kiln, has passed away after 99 years
of sharing her wit and wisdom with those who knew her. Based on this fact, the City's pursuit of
acquiring the property has been placed on hold pending further notification from the caretaker
of her estate.
One of the discussions that was raised by the ACHP Chair and Mayor Bailey was the potential
to rebuild the Kiln if the City were to acquire the property. The information that was received from
the state, was that it would most likely be a fundable project through their Historic Grant pro-
grams. If the Kiln itself is not physically able to be rebuilt, other interpretive projects may also
qualify, such as the Benjamin Franklin Ghost House shown below.

If the City does eventually acquire the property, this topic will be pursued further.
