Subject: Public Art on Display
Introduction
Public Art on Display is designed to recognize the inspirational, passionate and creativity of artists in
Cottage Grove and share their talents with the community by displaying public art in the City of
Cottage Grove’s city owned or managed spaces. Art will be sourced from the community through
applications and the selected art will be chosen by the Arts Commission and hung up and displayed in
the City of Cottage Grove’s City Hall conference rooms. Recognition of the selected Artists and their
work will include but is not limited to a news release that will be featured on the City’s website and
social media platforms.
Timeline for Public Art on Display program:
July 2 Final approval from Arts Commission
July 10 Marketing begins; submissions will be presented as received
October 1 Final art submissions will be approved during workshop
November 12 Acknowledgements of accepted Artists during meeting
Spring Cycle
March 2020 Submissions accepted
April 2020 Submissions approved and hung on display

Public Art on Display
Thank you for your interest in being considered for the Cottage Grove Arts Commission’s Public Art on
Display program. This program was created to encourage the display of public art in City of Cottage
Grove spaces and to recognize the inspirational, passionate and creativity of local artists and share their
talents with the community. Recognition of the selected Artists and their work will include but is not
limited to a news release that will be featured on the City’s website and social media platforms.
Display Process:
Art will be displayed in City Hall Conference Rooms, which are public viewing spaces, in rotating terms of
six months in duration. The Fall Rotation is November 1 – April 30 and the Spring Rotation is May 1 –
October 31. Applications will be collected on a continual basis and will be selected one rotating term in
advance.
Criteria:
1. Must be a Cottage Grove resident.
2. All applicants and their artworks will be reviewed on the merit of this submitted form and
examples of all of the artwork that is intended to be displayed should be included as a part of
this application form (photos, attached digital files, links to websites, or articles from the press).
3. Artwork must not be offensive or condescending towards any race, religion, gender, or sexual
orientation, and must not be used to promote or oppose political views.
4. Artwork must meet specifications for available display space.
a. Artwork must be in black frames or printed on a canvas
b. Meet necessary weight restrictions for rail system and dimension of wall and conference
room in order to be properly secured and displayed.

Use of Artist’s Photo/Video Agreement
I agree to allow the City of Cottage Grove to use the submitted artwork if selected to be a part of the Public Art on Display
program to be used in various city publications, Facebook pages and press releases. The Applicant and their artwork if used will
be credited and not reproduced.
