HomeMy WebLinkAbout3.1 July 9, 2019 EDA Minutes CITY OF COTTAGE GROVE E CONOMIC D EVELOPMENT A UTHORITY MINUTES EDA Meeting July 9, 2019 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a meeting of the Economic Development Authority was held at th Cottage Grove City Hall, 12800 Ravine Parkway, Cottage Grove, Minnesota 55016 on the 9 day of July 2019 at 7:30 a.m. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 7:30 a.m. by EDA President Bailey. ROLL CALL Members Present: Myron Bailey, EDA President Chris Carey, EDA Member Steve Dennis, EDA Vice President Dan Myers, EDA Member Rachel Smoot, EDA Member Eric Thiewes, EDA Member Ramona Westerberg, EDA Member Members Absent: None Staff Present: Jennifer Levitt, EDA Executive Director/City Administrator Robin Roland, Finance Director Christine Costello, Acting Community and Economic Development Director Matt Wolf, Economic Development Specialist Others Present: Ernie Swanson, Imagine LLC and Pizza Ranch Franchisee APPROVAL OF MINUTES th 3.1 Approval of the June 18, 2019 EDA Minutes EDA Vice President Dennis motioned to approve the June 18, 2019 EDA Meeting Minutes. EDA Member Westerberg seconded. Motion passed unanimously (7-to-0 vote) BUSINESS ITEMS Economic Development Authority – Minutes July 9th, 2019 Page 2 of 3 4.1 Economic Development Update/Business Inquiry Economic Development Specialist Wolf gave an update on the new business and projects occurring in Cottage Grove. PUBLIC HEARINGS 5.1 Sale of Land to Imagine, LLC for the purposes of developing a Pizza Ranch Economic Development Specialist Wolf gave overview of the sale of land to Imagine, LLC to develop a Pizza Ranch on 1.67 acres of land currently owned by the City of Cottage Grove EDA. EDA President Bailey asked the developer given the timeline of the agreements that need to be executed when is the current tentative proposed open date. Imagine, LLC owner and Pizza Ranch Franchisee Ernie Swanson responded that he would like to start construction as soon as possible and that construction generally takes 4-5 months, so the earliest would be January of 2020. EDA President Bailey opened the public hearing and no comments were received. EDA President Bailey closed the public hearing. EDA Member Carey motioned to approve the resolution approving the sale of property to Imagine, LLC for development purposes. EDA Member Myers seconded. Motion passed unanimously (7-to-0) OTHER BUSINESS 6.1 Calendar EDA President Bailey mentioned there were some networking luncheons and that the City Council will be holding budget workshops starting July 24. 6.2 EDA Comments None 6.3 Response to Previous EDA Comments None WORKSHOP None AJOURN EDA Member Thiewes made a motion to adjourn. EDA Member Smoot seconded.
