Pietruszewski will order the stencils and invite the artists to the next Commission meeting. b) Public Art on Display i) Hetland updated the Commission regarding the Public Art on Display stating he has reached out to local artists and company’s in an attempt to get some submissions. Currently, there are no submissions but Hetland pointed out there is still time before the deadline. Kovarik asked for clarification on what art would be accepted and if pottery would be included. Hetland responded the City has purchased a rail system to display the art so ideally the art would be photo’s or paintings, but it could encompass all forms of art. It would just need to be displayed differently. Kovarik asked where the City will be displaying the art. Hetland responded the artwork would be hung in the conference rooms at City Hall. These areas are open to the public. Forthun asked if there would be signs to indicate there are pieces of artwork to view in the conference rooms. Hetland didn’t see an issue with the request. Kovarik asked how long the art will hang and if there is a specific scene the City is looking for. Hetland stated the artwork is expected to be hung for 6 months and they are asking for any genera. Cheesman asked if photos need to be local. Hetland stated the only stipulation is the artist is a Cottage Grove resident. Kovarik asked if the artists can put a price for purchase on the art. Hetland responded not at this time. Hetland requested help from the Commissioners to reach out to the schools for submissions. 7) COMMISSION COMMENTS 8) COUNCIL COMMENTS Mills gave the Commission an update of agenda items the Council has been working on. 9) WORKSHOP The 2020 budget submitted as suggested by the Arts Commission has passed the first phase in the budget process by Administration and the City Council.
