This application proposes the Washington County Community Development Agency (CDA) will convert 105 public housing units in phases. The proposed plan offers our residents the choice to remain in their existing home or to move into another apartment, without impact to the affordability of that choice. The proposed long-term rent and income restrictions of the rental homes in addition to the vouchers will help meet our community’s need for affordable rental housing. The City of Cottage Grove partners with the Washington County CDA to provide rental housing with a mission to sustain the affordability levels over the long term. With the on- going underfunding of the Public Housing program, it has become essential to find alternate programming to maintain the condition of these rental homes. The proposed Conversion Plan and application provides a meaningful and viable way to preserve and sustain the 105 rental homes in the Washington County CDA’s Public Housing portfolio.
