RE: Historic Playing Cards Phase II
Introduction
At the last regular meeting of the ACHP, the topic of the second phase of historic playing cards was
discussed. Based on that discussion, the topic sheet for the project has been updated and will be
distributed at the meeting. An excerpt from the revised cards is shown below:

In 1955 the David Realty Company platted they_°
Panorama City Addition on Allen Street and Belden
Boulevard, an existing gravel township road. Belden
Boulevard was named after the Belden family who
were some of the earliest farmers in the area. Allen
Street was renamed in 1969 when the City went

along with the County uniform street naming system.

VFW Red Barn

For decades, VFW Post 8752 Red Barn has been a

gathering place for the community. Many weddings,
-
fundraisers and numerous other events have been
hosted in this iconic structure along Highway 61.
Taco Tuesdays and Friday Fish Fries are favorites for
the locals.

The 515 -acre Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park is

located in a buried glacial tunnel valley that was
formed during the Wisconsin Ice Age by melting ice�
flowing under the retreating glacier lobe.

Prior to being demolished in 2013 in the path of
Drive in
commercial development and movie projection
antiquity, the Cottage Grove Drive -In was a favorite
destination for carloads of families and teenagers on
warm summer evenings. The iconic sign was
preserved and relocated to Hastings and can be
viewed at the Little Log House Pioneer Village.
