Activites that have taken place in the community that may have a potential impact on economic
development activity:
Discussion Staff Action
Virtual Meeting April 21, 2021 ED Director Costello attend the virtual Minnesota Marketing
Partnership meeting. The group discussed its budget and
marketing campaign for the group.
Business Check-In with ED Director Costello phone call conversation with Laurie
Chamber, April 21, 2021 Levine to discuss any business needs that that Chamber
may have heard from the business community.
Meeting with Schilling Trust, City Administrator Levitt and ED Director Costello had an in-
May 3, 2021 person meeting with the Schilling Trust to discuss various
projects in the community and to receive an update from the
Trust on activities on Grey Cloud Island.
Meeting with North Point City staff met with individuals from North Point Development
Development, May 5, 2021 out of Chicago who is interested in developing an industrial
development in the community.
Meeting with Gerry Herringer, City Administrator Levitt and ED Director Costello met with
May 11, 2021 Gerry Herringer to discuss the City’s application for Federal
funding for development at the Shoppes at Cottage View
site.
DEED Webinar, May 25, ED Director Costello listened to a webinar on the
2021 Transportation Economic Development Infrastructure (TEDI)
program which was created to foster interagency
coordination between the Departments of Transportation and
Employment and Economic Development to finance public
infrastructure to create economic development opportunities,
jobs, and improve all types of transportation systems
statewide.
Chamber Board Meeting, Councilmember Dennis and ED Director Costello attended
May 27, 2021 the Chamber Board meeting.
Meeting with Fire Department ED Director Costello met with Fire Department staff on the
staff, May 27, 2021 details of burning the house at 8991 West Point Douglas
Road.
Business Check-In with ED Director Costello had a phone call conversation with
Chamber, June 2, 2021 Laurie Levine to discuss any business needs that that
Chamber may have heard from the business community.
Microsoft Teams Meeting on Various City staff had a virtual meeting with Stantec to
June 9, 2021 discuss updating the Business Park AUAR.
CGCVB Photo Shoot, June Assistant to the City Administrator Wolf and ED Director
10, 2021 Costello supervised the photo shoot for the CGCVB.
Microsoft Teams Meeting, Senior Planner Schmitz and ED Director Costello had a
June 11, 2021 virtual meeting with Bethesda Lutheran Communities on
their interest in development of the parcel to the west of
Legends of Cottage Grove for affordable housing.
Meeting with Tim Thone and Senior Planner Mrosla and ED Director Costello met with
Al Stewart, June 22, 2021 Tim Thone and Al Stewart to discuss potential sites south of
th
100 Street that are available for future residential
development.
Webinar, June 24, 2021 ED Director Costello listened to a webinar by the
International Economic Development Council (IEDC) on
economic development and ethics.
Chamber Golf Classic, June ED Director Costello on behalf of the EDA sponsored the
28, 2021 putting contest and had an opportunity to speak to local
businesses.
Ribbon Cutting, June 30, Mayor Pro Tem/Councilmember Dennis provided the
2021 remarks for the ribbon cutting for the grand opening of
Optimal Health and Performance/Training for Warriors East
Metro at their new location at 9040 Inwood Avenue.
Meeting with DEED, July 1, Public Works Director Burfeind and ED Director Costello had
2021 a meeting with DEED on a potential end user for the
business park. The potential end user was not a right fit for
the community as it was a heavy industrial user that was not
compatible with nearby residential uses.
