Business/Development Inquiry

Activites that have taken place in the community that may have a potential impact on economic
development activity:
Discussion Staff Action
April 18-May 2 Meetings were held for several weeks with community
partners CPR, Xcel, DEED, OPUS, and the Greater MSP to
discuss Project Logic with their site selector. The city is one
of five locations selected for further review as a location for a
manufacturing company looking to expand in the Metro area.
The Executive Director authorized a TIF analysis to be
completed by our team at Ehlers. We will update members
accordingly once additional information is available.
Planning ICSC
Staff continues to work on planning for the event which takes
place in Las Vegas May 22-24. Work on marketing materials
and website updates are on-going.
April 19 Staff met with the Chief Demographer for DEED, Tim O’Neill
to discuss services that they can provide to the city. After the
meeting, Tim provided staff with a comprehensive update of
our population, educational, income, and workforce
demographics which we will use to update the website.
April 25
Staff met with Rick Roy, Director of Workforce Initiatives for
Washington County to discuss opportunities to work together
to assist our businesses with finding and retaining skilled
workers.
Meeting, April 27 Assistant Mann attended the Chamber Showcase committee
meeting for planning final details of the event
Event, April 30
Council and Staff were on hand to represent at the City of
Cottage Grove booth at the Chamber Community Showcase
at the Park Activity Center. There was a great turnout at the
event and lots of interest from citizens in the development
happening in Cottage Grove.
Ribbon Cutting, May 5
Mayor Bailey, City Administrator Levitt, Communications
Manager Longaecker, Economic Development Director
Larson, Community Engagement Officer Schoen, and
Assistant Mann attended the ribbon cutting for the grand
opening of Basic Needs Thrift Shop in Cottage Grove.
