Building Permits
Building Permit Statistics:
Between May 1 and May 31, 2022, 598 building permits were issued with a total valuation of
$17,325,225, including 29 single-family homes valued at $8,434,079 and 14 townhomes valued at
$3,017,452.

Current Project Updates
Building Construction Projects
NorthPoint: Footings and foundation permits have been issued for both buildings with the first inspec-
tion scheduled for June 1. Building #1 will be 282,225 square feet, and Building #2, which will be
constructed first, is 492,839 square feet. Plumbing plans have been submitted and are waiting on
State Plumbing Board approval.
Innovative Chemical Corporation: Exterior is substantially complete. The contractor is waiting for
delivery of windows and doors to enclose the space. Mechanical permit has been issued.
Tradehome Shoes: Plans have been reviewed and approved for a minor remodel.
American Logistics Services: Final inspections are beginning for their office and warehouse space in
the Capp Industries building.
3M Projects:
o Building 150 – Foundation work continues. Plumbing underground plumbing work has begun.
o Building 151 – Footings have been completed, and foundation walls are being constructed.
Cottage Grove Apartments: Footings and foundation work is starting June 1 for the 171-unit market
rate apartment building.

The View: Footings and foundation work continues for this 31-unit market rate apartment building. The
City is waiting on a response on certain portions of the project from the builder before the full permit
can be issued.
Park Place Storage: Plans have been submitted for the storage fourth building. Plans have been
reviewed and approved by Building Division; Planning and Engineering need to verify compliance with
the 2017 resolution approving the project.
Pizza Ranch: The review for the 6,700 square feet restaurant has been completed by Building and
Planning. Construction has been pushed back to start in fall of 2022.
Mister Car Wash: The vacuum modification permit has been reviewed and will be issued when the
contractor has been selected.
Starbucks: Plans have been reviewed and approved for an interior remodel project.
Bieter Eye Center: The building and plumbing permits have been issued for an interior finish for their
relocation to the Summerhill Professional Building on Pine Arbor Drive. Plumbing underground work
has begun.
Design Plus Cabinets: Plans have been reviewed and approved for a tenant improvement project at
8599 West Point Douglas Road.
Park Senior High School: Bid Package 1 involves removing and replacing the floor and the rooftop
mechanical equipment in the Field House; demolition work has begun. Bid Package 2 includes
remodeling of the sound rooms, library, and auditorium.
Commercial Remodel Projects: Inspections have been ongoing for Ellie Family Services remodel,
Dunn Orthodontics expansion, Compcare Urgent Care remodel, and Van Meter Electric remodel.
Pine Harbor Christian Academy: Exterior is substantially complete. Interior finishes are in process.
Hamlet Park Shelter: Exterior is complete with painting scheduled for this spring.
Oakwood Park Shelter: Plumbing work will begin once State review approval is received.

Planning Division
May 23 Planning Commission Meeting
Lighthouse Church CUP: Lighthouse Baptist Church applied for an amended conditional use permit
and house moving approval to relocate an existing house to the Lighthouse Baptist Church property
located at 9979 80th Street South. The applicant requested that their application be continued be-
cause they want to move the location of the house from where it was originally proposed in their
application. The public hearing on this application will be on the June 27, 2022, Planning Commission
agenda.
June 27 Planning Commission Meeting
The following applications are scheduled for the June 27, 2022, Planning Commission meeting:
Lighthouse Church House: Continued public hearing from the May 23 Planning Commission meeting
on the amended Conditional Use Permit to relocate an existing house to their property at 9979 80th
Street South.
Dish Network Highlands Water Tank: Conditional Use Permit to allow construction of a telecommu-
nication facility on the Cottage Grove Water Tank at 6700 Inwood Avenue South.
Dish Network 81st Street Water Tank: Conditional Use Permit to allow construction of a telecommu-
nication facility on the Cottage Grove Water Tank located at 8520 81st Street South.
Dunkin’ / Baskin Robbins: Conditional Use Permit to allow a drive-through window at 7584 80th Street
South.
Michael’s Pointe: Zoning Amendment and Preliminary Plat for a proposed residential subdivision to
be located on the southwest corner of Jamaica Avenue and Military Road, which will consist of 86
single-family homes and 100 townhomes.
Thai Garden: Site Plan Review of a proposed restaurant to be located at 7470 East Point Douglas
Road South.
