Discussion Staff Action
November 11 As reported previously the team at Endeavor decided not to close
on the property in the business park at 95th and Jamacia. Staff
reached out to all interested parties and encouraged them to
submit their highest and best offer by December 2. A total of
three bids were received and they have been submitted to the
team at WAG for consideration. Once an offer is selected, we will
bring to the EDA for consideration at the January 2023 meeting.
November 12 Staff assisted the team at BRKW Real Estate Valuation Services
with additional property information regarding the two appraisals
that were authorized by the EDA at their 11-8 meeting.
November 18 Staff met with the team at SE Industrial Park to discuss a
preliminary site plan for a client who is in the redistribution
marketplace for wholesalers of groceries, paper, and supplies.
Subsequent to the meeting we were notified that the team at
Opus has submitted a planning commission application for the
client and confirmed it was RJ Schinner who had originally been
in negotiations for the 19-acre property at 95th and Jamacia.
November 28
Staff provided the team at HVS, who is working on the Hotel
Market Study, with final comments. Tanya Pierson with HVS will
present the completed report to the EDA at their 12-13 meeting.
Week of November 28
The team at MWF who are proposing to construct 120 units of
workforce housing have summitted a revised site plan after
meetings with the planning department staff. The proposed new
design will potentially save the developer significant costs and
allow them to utilize the entire property more fully. As a result of
these changes, the City Council workshop will now take place at
6:00 on January 18, 2023, to consider the TIF assistance
request.
December 2 Meeting Staff arranged a meeting with representatives of US Bank and
Mayor Bailey, Councilmember Dennis, and City Administrator
Levitt to discuss possible redevelopment of their property to allow
other users to locate there as there is significant interest from a
variety of restauranters. Upon conclusion of the meeting bank
representatives confirmed that the bank is not interested in either
selling or redevelopment of the property at this time.
December 6 Assistant Mann met with the Chamber Community Showcase
committee for initial planning for the Showcase. The date for the
2023 event is Saturday, April 29.
December 7 Tyler Hilsabeck will host Open to Business office hours at City
Hall from 9am – noon.
December 7 Staff is assisting the ED team at Xcel to respond to an RFI for an
industrial project looking for 450,000 sq ft of existing building
space. We also notified the leasing team at North Point of the
request as we would like to recommend one of their new
buildings as an ideal location.
