Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a Cottage Grove Public Services Commission Meeting
was held on January 23, 2023.
Meeting called to order at 7:09 p.m.

VII. New Business
A. Election of Officers.
Steve Ingram, Chair made a nomination for Lisa Kons to be new Chair. No other
nominations were received. Lisa Kons is the new Chair of the Public Services
Commission. Ingram also nominated Ron Kath as Vice -Chair. No other nominations
were received. Ron Kath is the new Vice -Chair. Lise Rediske was interested in
Secretary position prior to meeting and Ingram nominated Kelsey Moyer for Secretary
position. Since there were two candidates for this position, a vote was taken, and Kelsey
Moyer is the new Secretary Chair. The commission said good-bye to several
commissioners who have been on the commission for several years and terms. Both
Ryan Burfeind and Justin Olson shared their gratitude and appreciation for serving the
community for as long as they have. Thank you to Steve Ingram, Robert Dornsbach and
William Serpico.
B. Hero Center Tour- After Staff Reports were concluded, the meeting adjourned, and the
tour of the Hero Center began.

A. Public Works
a. Burfeind reported Grange Blvd will be down to one lane on 01/24/2023 for water
main repair.

b. This winter has dropped almost as much snow for the entire season by end of
Mid -January. The freeze/thaw temperatures this winter is going to make it ideal
for potholes to form.
c. Crews are working on pushing and removing snow from site- lines and clearing
catch basins when they can.
Cl. Pavement management projects will be located around High School on 80t" and
Hillside during spring and summer.
B. Streets — See Ryan's comments.
C. Police
a. 2022 Squad cars are now in service. 2023 were ordered months ago but no
longer under state contracts. Supply is in demand. Waiting times are
excessively long. PD started using Guardian as a one stop shop to set up the
new squad cars.
b. Red Dot program now available for all officers to have and use as part of their
uniform. Officer training underway as well.
c. Rinzel also updated on new staff and shifts for the year are set
Cl. K-9 Gunnar is retiring at the end of the year.
e. Standard State training for officers is 48 hours every 3 years. The City has a
more comprehensive training program, where officers could have up to 150
hours of training a year.
D. Fire
a. Personnel
a. We have three new PT staff who are halfway through their FTO training.
b. We have started another new PT member into fire school at Century College.
She is scheduled to complete her fire courses in May of this year. She will
then begin her FTO program.

c. Other Items
a. We have several members completing an inhouse Haz-Mat course being
instructed by DC Pritchard.
b. We are hosting a Fire Apparatus Operator Course for several of our staff
members. It is being co -hosted by Century College. We hope to have
members form the neighboring departs attend also.
c. The department training committee has completed putting together the 2023
training schedule.

XII. Council Comments
A. Councilmember Olsen shared on the following topics.
a. Strategic Planning Workshop over the weekend at River Oaks.
b. Funding Source: Working with State Legislators regarding Capital Bond Bill. These
funds would contribute to Infrastructure projects., especially 100th realignment project.
