Training Room 1. CALL TO ORDER 2. ROLL CALL 3. WORKSHOPS – OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Zoning Code Amendments and Sign Code Update This City Council Workshop was held to discuss proposed changes to both the Zoning Code and Sign Code. While there was a productive discussion regarding the Sign Code updates, due to time constraints, the Zoning Code revisions could not be fully addressed. To ensure a comprehensive review, a future workshop will be added. Here is an overview of the covered topics. Minimum Lot Width Reduction (R-4 District):  The topic of minimum lot width was not covered in this workshop and a more comprehensive discussion will be scheduled at a future workshop. Sign Code Updates: Multiple Building Complexes: Add definitions and standards for signage in developments with multiple buildings. Temporary Signs: Define temporary event signs. Establish permit requirements and standards for non-commercial temporary signs. Including location, size and number of signs permitted per property. Allow temporary signs to be mounted on poles or building structures. Scoreboards: Establish size limitations and allowance for sponsor logos. Sign District Standards: Separate the four land uses (agriculture, residential, commercial, and industrial) into their own sign district standards for clarity. Agriculture: Define and set standards for farm identification signs. Allow temporary signs on poles. Require permits for all non-residential temporary signs. Residential: Set setback standards for entrance monument signs. Allow wall signs on apartment buildings. Include multi-family buildings in temporary sign regulations. Commercial: Remove pylon signs as a permitted type. Allow businesses in a complex to choose a joint monument sign or individual signs. Increase monument sign height to 15 feet for consistency. Require specific materials for monument sign bases. Increase temporary sign allowance for new/reopening businesses and store closings. Industrial: Remove pylon signs as a permitted type. Allow businesses in a complex to choose a joint monument sign or individual signs. Set setback standards for monument signs. Increase size allowance for internal directional signs without a permit. Reduce building size sign categories and remove minimum size requirement. Increase temporary sign allowance for new/reopening businesses and store closings. Next Steps: Aim to further refine the proposed code updates. Public Hearing and Adoption: Following the incorporation of Council feedback, the revised code will proceed to a public hearing before the Planning Commission. After the public hearing, the City Council is scheduled to consider the final adoption of the updated Zoning and Sign Codes. Refine Based on Council Feedback: A follow-up workshop will be scheduled to address the valuable feedback received from the City Council. This workshop will 4.
