CALL TO ORDER
The City Council of the City of Cottage Grove, Washington County, Minnesota held a
special meeting on Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at the Cottage Grove City Hall, 7516 8p
Street South. Mayor Denzer called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Mayor Denzer presided over the meeting.
Council reviewed the bids received for the 80' Street South ornamental street lighting and
reconstruction projects.
Ornamental Street Liqhtinq
Two options were bid for the street lighting package -- fluted and octagonal design lighting
standards with luminaries. Staff recommended awarding the bid for the ornamental lighting
to Caralo tachmansingh Sales, Inc., for Option 2, octagonal with luminaires, in the amount
of $110,413.88.
Public Works Director Les Burshten noted that the bid specifications included the
installation of new lighting from Ideal Avenue South, west to TH 10 & 61.
80 Street Reconstruction Proiect
Council reviewed the base bids for the 80 Street Reconstruction project and the following
seven alternates:

Council reviewed the base bids for the 80 Street Reconstruction project and the
following seven alternates:
➢ City Hall Parking Lot
➢ Expansion of Parking Lot
➢ Hemingway Sidewalk
➢ Park High School Parking Lot
➢ Ravine Scenic Overlook
➢ Installation and Wiring of Street Light Poles
➢ Exposed Aggregate for Center Median
Burshten highlighted a crushing operation proposal of Tower Asphalt, Inc., the
lowest bidder, where the City could save approximately $50,000.
Following discussion, Council consensus was to:
1. Install octagonal street lighting the entire length of 80 Street South or from
Jamaica Avenue South, easterly to TH 10 & 61.
• 2. Award the bid for the 80 Street improvements to the low bidder and to
proceed with all seven alternates.
3. Authorize staff to negotiate with Tower Asphalt and a property owner within
the City regarding the crushing operation proposal.
4. Any cost savings from the 80 Street South Street Improvement Project
would be applied toward the additional street light costs.
Special meeting adjourned to the regular meeting at 7:17 p.m.
