The City Engineer has verified the bid amounts and found that Tower Asphalt has the low base bid. Tower Asphalt also has the lowest bid, inclusive of all seven alternates. The Councii will be discussing at the workshop whether ali alternates shouid be included in the project or not. RECOMMENDATION Adopt the attached resolution. F:\GROUPS�PLANNING\7998\CITYCOUN�BOth Street Bid Recommendation.dx RESOLUTION NO. 98-XXX RESOLUTION AWARDING BID FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF 80TH STREET SOUTH WHEREAS, the City Council on February 4, 1998, approved the construction plans and specifications for the construction of 80th Street South and set a bid date of March 27, 1998, at 11;00 a.m: CST, City Hall, and WHEREAS, an advertisement for bids for the improvement was published in the "South Washington County Bulletin" and "Construction Bulletin," and WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the improvement of 80th Street South, bids were received, opened, and tabulated according to law, and bids listed in Exhibit "A" were received and compiled with the advertisement; and WHEREAS, it appears that Tower Asphalt, Inc. is the lowest responsible bidder: a�d WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the City Engineer that the contract be awarded to Tower Asphalt, inc. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of Cottage Grove, County of Washington, State of Minnesota, as foilows: The proper City Officials are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract, as provided by law, with Tower Asphalt, Inc. for the 80th Street Reconstruction Project according to the plans and specifications therefore approved by the City Council in the base bid amount of $2,769,652.98. 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to ali bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bidder and the neut lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed.
