Kinsey SUBJECT: GAMBLING LICENSE APPLICATION - TEMPORARY INTRODUCTION All �charitable organizations which are exempt from the requirements of the Minnestoa Charifable Gambling Control Board and who desire to conduct tawful gambling within the City of Cottage Grove, must obtain a gambling permit. The issuance of lawful gambling permits are subject to local approval by the City Council. BACKGROUND Pursuant to City Ordinance, Calvio C. SColl, on behalf of Second Chance for Life Foundation, located at 4511 Westwood Lane, Golden Valley, MN 55416, has submitted an application for a Temporary Single Occasion gambling permit, to conduct a raffle to be held at the iVlajestic Ballroom, located at 9165 Wesf Pt. Douglas Road, Cottage Grove, on June 14, 1998. The Department of Pubiic Safety is required to conduct a police investigation of the applicants. DISCUSSION The application as submitted, is complete, in compliance with our ordinanee and is exempt from the licensing requirements of the Minnesota Charitable Gambling Control Board. We have investigated the applicant and have not found any facts which would constitute a basis far denial of t6is application, under the provisions of Che City's Gambling Ordinance. RECOMMENDATION Recommend that the City Council approve the single occasion Gambling Permit applicafion for Second Chance for Life Foundation. lece ec: gambling file
