Kinsey Date: May 7, 1998 Re: GAMBLING LICENSE APPLICATION — SINGLE OCCASION INTRODUCTION Ail charitable organizations which are exempt from the requirements of the Minnestoa Charitable Gambling Control Board and who desire to conduct lawful gambling within the City of Cottage Grove, must obtain a gambling permit. The issuance of lawful gambiing permits are subject to local approval by the City Council. BACKGROUND Pursuant to City Ordinance, Thomas Patrick Fitzgerald, on behalf of the Church of St. Rita, located at 8694 80th Street, Cottage Grove, MN 55016, has submitted an application for a Temporary Singie Occasion gambling permit, for the conduct of a raffle, bingo and pull tabs to be held at the Church of St. Rita, located at 8694 80th Street, on September 19` and 20` 1998. The Department of Public Safety is required to conduct a police investigation of the applicants. DISCUSSION The application as submitted, is complete, in compliance with our ordinance and is exempt from the lice�sing requirements of the Minnesota Charitable Gambling Control Board. We have investigated the appiicant and have not found any facts which would constitute a basis for denial of this application, under the provisions of the City's Gambling Ordinance. RECOMMENDATION Recommend that the City Council approve the single occasion Gambling Permit application for the Church of St. Rita � /cce cc: gambling file E.
