Kinsey SUBJECT: LIQUOR LICENSE APPLICATION INTRODUCTION AII locations within the City of Cottage Grove, that sell alcoholic beverages, are required by State aw and City Ordinance to be licensed. BACKGROUND Pursuant to City Ordinance, Betty Lou Schultz, on behalf of Boondocks Bar and Grill, located at 7402 Lamar Avenue 5outh, Cottage Grove, Minnesota, has submitted an application for an "On Sale" 3.2 malt liquor license and "Off Sale" 3.2 malt liquor license to the City Clerk's office, on or about June 1, 1998. The Department of Pubiic Safety is required to conduct a police investigation of the applicant. DISCUSSION The City Clerk has published a Notice of Hearing in the Washington County Bulletin on June 10, 1998, for a Pubiic Hearing on June 24, 1998. On or about June 1 1, 1998, the Public Safety Department received the Appiication for Renewal from the City Clerk's office, requesting the required Background Investigation be conducted. On or about June 12, 1998, the Public Safety Department was notified by the City Clerk's office that the application for a "On Sale" 3.2 malt liquor license and "Off Sale" 3.2 malt liquor license for the Boondock's Bar and Grill was to be investigated as a new liquor license application and not a renewai application. A new liquor Iicense background investigation requires a much more indepth investigation than a renewal and given time constraints piaced upon us for the June 24, 1998 Public Hearing, the background investigation is not completed. RECOMMENDATION Recommend that the City Council postpone the Public Hearing until July 15, 1998. E. Kinsey
