Kinsey Date: July 7, 1998 Re: GAMBLING LICENSE APPLICATION - TEMPORARY INTRODUCTION All charitable organizations which are exempt from the requirements of the Minnesota Charitabie Gambiing Controi Board and who desire to conduct Iawfui gambling within the City of Cottage Grove, must obtain a gambling permit. The issuance of lawful gambling permits are subject to local approval through a resolution adopted by the City Council. BACKGROUND Pursuant to City Ordinance, James Eari Peiffer, 6532 81s` Street South, Cottage Grove, on behalf of Capitol City Strutters, an affliate of the National Wild Turkey Federation, a corporation in Edgefield, South Carolina, has submitted an application for a Temporary Single Occasion gambling permit, for the conduct of a raffle, to be heid at the VFW Red Barn, located at 9260 E. Pt. Douglas, on April 8t 1999. The Department of Public Safety is required to conduct a police investigation of the applicants. DISCUSSION The appiication as submitted, is complete, in compliance with our ordinance and is exempt from the licensing requirements of the Minnesota Charitable Gambling Control Board. We have investigated the applicants and have not found any facts which would constitute a basis for denial of this application, under the provisions of the City's Gambling Ordinance. RECOMMENDATION Recommend that the City Council approve the single occasion Gambling Permit application for Capitol City Strutters. S � .. mes E.
