A community meeting was heid on September 25, 1996 to introduce the project to residents and to solicit members for the Task Force. The first meeting of the appointed 19 member Task Force occurred on December 7, 1997. The group met over the foliowing fourteen months and the number of active members dropped to sixteen. The final report was approved at the February meeting and the Council accepted the report at their March 4, 1998 meeting. At the meeting the Council discussed having a joint workshop with the Task Force. At the April 15, 1998 Councii workshop, Task Force members met with the Councii and briefly discussed portions of the report. The Council explained they had not had an opportunity to discuss the Report among themselves, which they would like to do, prior to further discussion with the Task Force. On April 18, the Councii had an ail-day workshop where the CITYVISION 21 document was briefly discussed. Information given to planning staff was that the final Report as previousiy submitted to the Council would remain in its original form. in July, the final color copy was sent to the Council, Task Force members, EDA, Planning Commission and Park Board as well as copies placed at the library and in the City Hail for public viewing.
