Re: Eagle Ridge 1997 assessment
Introduction
The City Council adopted assessment to the Eagle Ridge subdivision in the fall of 1997. The
cost per lot adopted was $7,434.80. It has come to my atYention that one lot in the
subdivision was incorrectly assessed.
Backtround
The Eagle Ridge subdivision consists of 22 lots. Only 21 of these lots were to be assessed
accordingto the subdivision agreement. The original assessment is to be collected with
tes payable 1998, 1999 and 2000.
I coiitacted WashingCOn Counry Auditor Treasurer and ascertained that the first half of the
1998 payable assessments were paid by the property owner and that the second half
assessments have not yet been paid. The due date for the second half is October I5, 1998. I
then contacted the property owner and explained the enor.
In order to correct this error, City Council will need to adopt a resolution reapportioning the
assessment to the lots as indicated on the reso(uYion. I have also spoken to the oroperty
developer, who agrees with this arrangement. We will reimburse the property owner for the
first half assessments, issue a check to Washington County for the second half of the
assessment, delete the remaining assessment balance on this parcel and re-spread the
original amount to as-yet-undeveloped lots.
The lots assessed for Eagle Ridge on September 16, 1998 were correct.
Requested Action
Adopt resolution reapportioning assessments to the lots indicated on the attached resolution.
RESOLUTION NO. 98-
AUTHORIZING A REAPPORTIONMENT
OF ASSESSMENTS ON EAGLE RIDGE
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Cottage Grove on October 1,
1997 on R97-187 adopted assessments for Eagle Ridge street, storm sewer and
street lighting improvements on parcel 26-027-21-23-0004 in the amount of
$7,434.80.
WHEREAS, the assessment was incorrectly applied to that parcel
WHEREAS, the assessment should be reapportioned to:
26-027-21-23-0006 $1,858.70
26-027-21-24-0006 1, 858.70
26-027-21-24-0008 1,858.70
26-027-21-24-0010 1, 858.70
for taxes payable 1999 and 2Q00
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of
Cottage Grove, County of Washington, State of Minnesota, to reapportion the
assessment to the lots as per above for taxes payable 1999 and 2000.
Passed this 7th day of October, 1998.
