On a motion by Mark Rudek, seco�ded by Dennis Ackerman, the August 11, 1998 minutes were accepted by a unanimous voice vote of the Commission. Approval of aaenda: Chairperson Don Strom presented the September 8, 1998 agenda of the Public Safety, Health and Weifare Commission for review. On a motio� by Dennis Ackerman, seconded by Mark Rudek, the September S, 1998 agenda was approved by a unanimous voice vote of the Commission. OPEN FORUM Chairperson Don Strom invited citizens present to address the Commission regarding any matters that were not on the approved agenda. There being no presentations from the audience, Chairperson Strom closed the Open Forum segrnent of the meeting. Page 3 PSHWC Meeting Minutes September 8", 1998 It was the consensus of the Commission to table this matter to the October meeting for further discussion, pending the results of the speed survey. Case 98-09-03 B1ind Chiid sign in area of 7830- 110`" Street — Patricia Owen, 7965 1 10`" Street on hehalf of Jane Cocchiarella, 7830 1 10`" Commission member Mark Leier informed the Commissio� that he and Sergeant Smith have discussed this issue and stated that the Cocchiarella's have a 6 year chiid who is blind. He went on to say that the area is currently being reviewed 6y the City's Community Deveiopment Department and Traffic Engineers and Met Councii. After general discussion, on a motion by Mark Leier, seconded by Biil Schmidt, it was recommended that this matter be tabled until there is more information regarding this area as to the future design of the roadways. Motion carried. RESPONSE TO PREVIOUSLY RAISED COMMISSION COMMENTS AND REQUESTS None at this time. COMMISSION COMMENTS AND REQUESTS Commission member Mark Leier inquired if.he city has any type of ordinance pertaining to lighting requirements for private snowplow drivers. He advised that St. Paul nas some type of ordinance which requires private snowplow vehicles to have amber Iights on �or better visibility during snowplowing activities. He advised that he will get copies of ordinances from cities that have such an ordinance and provide copies to the Commission members at a future meeting. Commission Chair pon Strom inquired the status of the intersections where visibiiity �s being obstructed due to trees, shrubs and bushes. Chief Kinsey informed him that a memo has been sent to Director of Public Wor{cs Burshten regarding this matter and stated he would foilow up with Mr. Burshten regarding the status of their requests. Acting Chief Kinsey informed the Commission that Yhe Police Department has been receiving compiaints regarding hunting in areas that are too cfose to newer residentiai areas and requested that the Commission review the Hunting Ordinance and boundaries. He will send them a copy of the ordinance along with the hunting boundaries for their review and discussion. '
